Contract scrolls
There is a lectern at spawn with a label over it: Contract Board. Right-click it and a sealed scroll lands in your hand with another player's name on it. Walk it to them and you get paid. They open it, find a task inside, do the task, get a reward — and get the next sealed scroll to carry to someone else. That is the whole game. Nobody has to play, and saying no costs nothing.
Carrying a scroll
- Pick one up. Right-click the board. Hover over the scroll: it shows who it is for, the meeting spot, your pay and how long you have. The meeting spot is where that player was standing when the scroll was made — they have been told you are coming.
- Walk there. Your compass points at the spot, and a bar above your hotbar tells you how far and which way:
➜ 340 blocks north-east · Mia · 1 h 20 min. No/tpa,/home,/warp,/spawnor/backwhile you carry it — the trip is the point. Boats, horses, minecarts, portals, ender pearls and gliding are all fine. - Hand it over. When you are within 16 blocks the bar says You're here! and chimes. Right-click the player. You are paid on the spot: 3 to 12 levels and 5 to 20 Chronicle XP depending on how far you walked, with extra for crossing into another dimension.
- Nobody there? Right-click the ground at the spot to leave the scroll for them. You are still paid in full. They have 24 hours to stand there and run
/contracts collect.
You have two hours to deliver, plus an hour for every 2,000 blocks. Don't leave the scroll in a chest or on the ground for more than ten minutes — it goes back to the board and you are not paid. If you die, it goes to your death chest like everything else, and the same ten minutes apply.
Getting a scroll
- Someone hands you a sealed scroll and it opens. Hover over it to read the task and the exact reward.
- Right-click to sign it. Don't want it? Right-click the board with it instead and it goes back into the pool.
- Do the task. The scroll's name counts up as you go:
Contract: Fish 12 cod (7/12). You have days, not minutes. - Hand in. When the scroll says Done!, right-click it. You get the reward, and a new sealed scroll for someone else lands in your hand. Off you go.
Seal colours
The wax on the seal tells you how hard the task inside is — the task itself stays hidden until it is delivered.
- Grey — easy. 3 levels and 10 Chronicle XP, plus iron, gold, bottles o' enchanting or a Simple enchant book.
- Green — medium. 6 levels and 20 Chronicle XP, plus shulker shells, netherite or a Unique enchant book.
- Purple — hard. 10 levels and 40 Chronicle XP, plus echo shards, totems or an Ultimate book.
- Gold — weekly. 20 levels and 100 Chronicle XP, plus enchanted golden apples, a beacon, a shulker box of shells or a Legendary book.
Your first two hours on the server are all grey seals. Green shows up after that, purple after a full day of playtime, gold later still. Complete at least one contract a day for seven days in a row and you get 8 shulker shells on top.
Commands
/contracts shows what you are holding and where to meet. /contracts help repeats the rules in six lines. /contracts board tells you where the board is (no teleport — couriers walk). /contracts collect picks up a scroll left for you, standing at its meeting spot.
